Remark Postbeförderung/Spez. Boten-/Kurierdienste First Edition: GB locals: Penny Farthing Post (Bude, Cornwall) (local bicycle mail): Stamp issued by the Penny Farthing Post, a local post operating since 1st April 2012 around the Bude area of North Cornwall. This stamp was issued from the 3rd April 2012 and is the one currently in use (the first stamp was apparently black and yellow and stocks were used up in the first two days; few are likely to have survived for collectors). One value, depicting a silhouette of a top-hatted man on a penny-farthing bicycle, with two balloons tied to the rear. The date '2012' is printed between the bicycle frame and the front wheel. Self adhesive on backing paper, rouletted. The post has been reported to be a success, charging half the recently-increased second-class postage rate of Royal Mail to deliver letters around the twin towns of Bude and Stratton, and three days a week to the neighbouring villages of Marhamchurch and Widemouth Bay. Post boxes (actually small picnic-hamper type baskets) are placed in several local independent shops and stores.
